Although there are so many different ways to potty train a puppy. It is very difficult to find one that suit your pup’s need and fits your life style. This method is like making a potty room for your pup ( a deluxe crate with a bathroom in it) so that they don’t go all over the place in the house. This method is proven to be very simple for any pup to understand. It even works for older, un-trained, or hyper pups (also for busy owners and owners with children). -First, you must write down their daily potty times. Make a potty schedule that you BOTH can follow (because in order for you to potty train a puppy, you have to be “potty trained” also). - At the beginning you have to ask your pup to go potty (pick a word for it ex. “go potty”) - Put the pup in the gated area according to the schedule you’d made. Close the gate. - When they did go, let them out. Praise and give them a treat for everytime they did go. Do not open the gate until they did. No punisment/ yelling. This is not a time out room. -Repeat according to potty schedule. -Once they can go in and out constantly, you can remove the gate. (but they still will have that gate in their mind), and they will go there by themself and on demands. Remember my method will work but it can not be compromised. If the new owner is not as committed (and keep on forgetting to let them in, forgot to open the door for them to go outside, etc) some pups will never be potty trained. It’s not because they can not do it or becasue they ae bad puppies, but because they don’t get enough help and become very confuse of what they should do. So you really have to be very committed and consistent. It’s not just the dog. You have to be ready to be trained yourself. Select the area carefully for indoor potty training (mostly for smaller to medium dogs) For medium large to large dog, outdoor potty training is recommended. For outdoor, you can use this method. Just move the gate outside, to which area you prefer them to go. Same rituals, and after they go back to the same gated area constantly, you can remove the gate. And you will a cleaner back yard. Easy! Visit : tinytailsnkisses.com (potty training page) for more details potty training. I wish you and your pup the best ! don’t yell at him …
don’t yell at him or doubt him. It is a difficult skill for any animal to learn, some pups are just fortunate enough to learn it very early and some don’t get that teaching until later. But he will get it if you don’t give up teaching him. It’s like leaving us in a fairground without knowing where the bathroom is. If we can’t speak, can’t read, and there is no sign, we will be so confused. & if we have to go, we might just go everywhere we could. We need someone to tell us where to go. U’ll B OK

But if he usually …
But if he usually takes a long time to go, make sure you give water/ food inside the crate and pick a shady cooler spot.
Tell him the same word everytime like “potty” or anything you prefer.
Make sure always have treats handy, so he knows that the faster he do it, the faster he will get a treat. (don’t show him the treat to early, he will get too excited).
Don’t be late to ask him to go potty, usually 5-10 minutes after naps, 1 hr after meal, and every 1 1/2 hrs between. Always positive and

Hi. It will take a …
Hi. It will take a little longer for you to re-train him, because he is already used to go everywhere. But no worries, just get a long gate/ playpen (they come is panels so it’s easy to turn it into a room), put that in an area that you want him to go from now on. Then ask him to go potty according to schedule daily. Close the gate ’til he goes. If he go, give him a treat. This’ll give him the idea that if he do what you want, he gets a treat. So later you can ask him 2 go potty anywhere anytime

Puppy don’t usually …
Puppy don’t usually understand where they should go unless they were potty trained earlier. You have to make the boundary for him (with gates, etc),& make schedule that you both can follow, and show him where (using gates/ playpen with be easier for him). At the beginning, you have to ask him to go potty at the designated area according to schedule. Later on he can go by himself. If you let him loose it will be even more difficult for him to understand the boundary on where he should go potty.

Hi,
If he is potty …
Hi,
If he is potty trained, then he can be out. But if he is not potty trained yet, make the crate larger for those times so he can play in it and not feel so trapped.

What do you …
What do you recommend for times when the owner has to be at work/ needs sleep?
October 29th, 2008 at 12:02 pm
Yeah, a pool …
Yeah, a pool without a gate is not safe for a puppy. Definitely need supervising until he/ she knows how to avoid or at least swim.
I trained my dogs to go indoor, just simply because I like sanitizing their area often.
Dachsund is smaller than corgi, so it’s definitely fine. And with non-gated pool, indoor might be a safer place. Find an area inside that is less crowded, gate the area & put 4 pee pee pads to start. Make a schedule for your pup & ask your pup to go potty according 2 schedule.

I’m considering …
I’m considering about getting a dog. A dachshund. Now my backyard has a big pool and a dirt patch area by the tool shed. Should the dog be trained outside by the dirt patch or should the training start inside with a small pen area? Oh, and my pool does not have a fence around it so should I try to make the dog avoid the pool? It’s an in ground pool.
My house has a dog door that leads to the backyard so I don’t know where to start. The backyard or in the house.

Hi, do you have a …
Hi, do you have a schedule for her ? You should make one and on the time that she suppose to go according to her schedule, just let her out. If you prefer her to go to a specific area, just put a gate there. Try not to miss the schedule too much. Later on, she can go on her own and she will know where.
About food, I use open feeding here. So they can decide how much themself. But for her age, 2 cups each time should be fine, or separate them in 3 feedings. As long as she excercises she’s OK.

Without seeing how …
Without seeing how the crate is set up, it is hard to judge what needs to be fix.
But I think you just need more pee pee pads.
Some puppy needs 4 -6 pee pee pads /pup to start
You have to see their behaviour, why did they miss the pads?
Do you have 1 or 2 pups? You mention they.
If you have 1 and he keep on skipping the pads, you might just make the space in between too big. If he ACCIDENTALLY step on it, maybe the space is too small.
Also is he a hyper high enery type? I Need more info

Hi, the white gate …
Hi, the white gate is from Petsmart. You have to go to “small animal” section to find it. Its actually playpen for small animal. Brand : All Living thing - LARGE size playpen. $ 41.99 plus tax.
It’s 24′ tall just like the one for dogs, just cheaper and lighter. It comes in many panels so it’s very long and you can remove what you don’t need for different area. But if you have bigger dog, you might like a thicker and heavier gate for dog $60

Hi, I don’t have …
Hi, I don’t have any puppies, they are just mine.
But you can find some good breeders that do potty trained their puppies before they go home to their new families (not many but there are some).
If you can visit the facility before you get a dog would be best. You should be able to see how they raise their puppies. Nowadays a lot of breeders are too lazy to train their pups, and only thinking about profit not quality.
I hope you can find a good companion.
Please make a vid

So, it is better if you can consult your vet / professionals if things are worsen.
Puppies are so fragile and there are so many factors that can stop them from surviving.
Sometimes only love is not enough.
I do hope your puppy is doing fine. Please keep me update. Good luck to you and your pup.

Hi, 1 mo pup is …
Hi, 1 mo pup is usually still drinking milk? But puppies are so complicated, it could be just nothin or something. You have to look at every facts before you can determine what’s going on. There are so many things : Is the mom producing enough milk or she hypocalcemic. Does the pup live outdoor ? And puppy needs to be kept at 75 degree from 3- 4 wks old and 70 degree after. Make sure he doesn’t get pneumonia from milk/ liq dewormer. Also giardia can cause loose stool.
But I am not a vet though.
